The vinyl release of Giardini di Mirò’s new EP seems to be under a bad spell. First all the sleeves got destroyed and yesterday we’ve learned that 110 copies (of 550) got lost in the mail. We hope that these records will surface soon, but until then there’s a little shortage in the supply.
We’ve had about 290 copies (another 260 sleeves will be printed this week), 220 were send to the distributor, but only 110 arrived. Those are already shipped to various foreign distributors and probably made their way to the record stores.
So if you can’t find the record anywhere, please be a little patient. We’ll have more copies within the next weeks. If you don’t want to wait that long, you can also order directly from us. We’ve got a few more copies here to sell.
To those who own a copy: When you’ve got that record on your turntable, when you hold the handprinted sleeve in your hand, please remember all the sweat and pain involved in the making. It’ll make it even more precious.

Here’s a free mp3 from the new Giardini di Mirò EP “North Atlantic Treaty of Love”:
Giardini di Mirò “Othello” (mp3, 160 kbps, 6.50 mb)
With a straight 4/4 kickdrum, a grooving synth bass and guitarist Jukka Reverberi singing for the first time, “Othello” sounds quite different than anything from their previous releases. But although this song introduces a lot of new elements to the shimmering sound cosmos of Giardini di Mirò, the underlying guitar harmonies are unmistakable.
We hope you like the song. Feel free to pass it to your friends or link it from your website/blog.

Part two of Giardini di Mirò’s double EP “North Atlantic Treaty Of Love” is now available. Although we’ve had some problems in the making of this record, we’ve managed to get it done in time. The silkscreened sleeves look amazing and the vinyl sounds superb… we can’t be more happy with the result.
Like the first 12″, the second part is also strictly limited to just 550 numbered copies.
For those without a record player we’ve also released a CD with all songs from both EPs (info below).
CD and 12″ are now available from our mailorder. We’ve also got a few copies of the first EP left, so if you want one of those you better hurry up.

Info:
Since the release of their 2003 album “Punk … not Diet!” Italian post rock heroes Giardini di Mirò have graced more than 100 European stages, leaving little time or leisure for a brand new album. Nevertheless, the band’s heads and minds continued to brim with new ideas: taking short breaks in-between their extensive tours, GdM snatched a few days here and there to record a number of songs created between sound check and motorway.
Hungry for new ideas and relieved of any pressure to create an entire, coherent album, Giardini di Mirò went on to record several tracks, bit by bit, all sparkling with a range of subtly mesmerising new facets of Giardini di Mirò’s shimmering sound cosmos. Although avid fans are likely to make out the band’s trademark sound in each of the four new tracks of “North Atlantic Treaty Of Love”, this release holds more than a few surprises.
“Othello”, for example, juxtaposes heart-rending harmonies with 4/4 kick drums and a sharply grooving synth bass.
A track to break new ground – with more than just its snappy beats: for the very first time the band’s guitarist, Jukka Reverberi, performs the lead vocals.
“Little Cesar” marks yet another premiere: for this song, Giardini di Mirò asked a bona fide MC (Siaz of Zucchini Drive/Cavemen Speak) to take the mic. An odd combination on paper – GdM’s melodious instrumentals plus rap passages – this meeting of minds is a musical marriage made in heaven.
Those of you who made it to one of the recent Giardini di Mirò shows, will remember their stunning cover version of Smog’s “Blood Red Bird” – the calming finale to many overwhelming concerts.
“The Perfect Trick”, on the other hand, has still to see its live debut. This formidable instrumental, concluding the first half of “North Atlantic Treaty Of Love”, was originally written for a film soundtrack.
With their remix album “The Academic Rise Of Falling Drifters” GdM already proved that they are not averse to external manipulation by esteemed colleagues. In this spirit, four remixes of tracks originally released on “Punk … not Diet!” by the likes of Alias, Apparat, Hood and The Boats complete this CD.

We are currently working on a new website. If you have any suggestions - features or contents you’d like to see - please leave a note in the comments below. Let us know what you’ve liked or disliked about the previous site, what information you’ve been missing etc.
The old site will not be updated anymore, but you can still browse it here. This weblog however will have all the news and up-to-date information on our activities.
There are also some external websites with 2nd rec content. Click here if you want to listen to our releases, go there if you’d like to view some photos or become our myspace-friend.
We’re not sure how long it’ll take us to develop the new website and we are wise enough not to make any projections. But we’ve already started to work on it and we hope not to get distracted too much in the next few weeks.
