Here’s a little, well-done video portrait of Jukka (Giardini di Mirò). Actually I don’t understand very much, since it’s in Italian, but from what I got, it’s not just about the band or music, but also Jukka’s job as a social worker and his political ideas.
Our actitivies with the label have been pretty low in the recent months. We haven’t released anything new since a year, but it feels even longer than that. There are various reasons for our hiatus and maybe I’ll write a blog post about it someday.
But right now I just want to tell you, that we are preparing a comeback release - the new album by Tellaro! We’re still working out the details, but we hope to have it available for you very soon. Subscribe to our newsletter or our RSS feed to be informed.
We don’t have a booth at this year’s Pop Up exhibition in Leipzig, but we’ve been invited to join a discussion panel called “Wir haben die Asche, wo bleibt der Phönix? – Die Musikbranche vor einem neuen Anfang” (topic: new strategies for the music industry).
The discussion takes place on Saturday, 24. May at 16.00. More information: www.leipzig-popup.de

Finally here’s a resume about our “Pick a price”-offer.
A little history: In November we’ve offered nine CDs from our catalog. Everybody (within Germany) could choose one of those CDs, which we sent to him/her without charging anything, not even the costs for shipping. Along with the CD, we’ve send a letter that described the expenses involved in making such a record and asked people to pay whatever they feel is appropriate (here is the original post).
The offer caused quite a rush and after a few days we stopped it because we already had about 500 orders, which was a lot to cope with for just the two of us.
The reactions were overwhelmingly positive. A couple of blogs wrote about it, some magazines mentioned it and we were asked to give some radio interviews.
But even more important: we’ve got a lot of encouraging emails from people who ordered a CD.
The next day after we’ve sent out the CDs, the first payments started pouring in and we were thrilled. But now, three month after we’ve sent out the CDs, we are a little bit disheartened.
Actually we didn’t have any concrete expectations when we’ve started this. We didn’t define any target figures and we didn’t have any other specific goals. It was an experiment done out of curiosity. So we don’t think of it in terms of success or failure. Still the results allow some conclusions, which aren’t that optimistic.
We moved our website to a new server. There may be some links or functions that don’t work yet. If you spot a bug, please let us know.
Our mailorder, sonicane.com, is closed for the time being. If you want to order some records from us, just drop us an email (info AT 2ndrec DOT com) and tell us what you are interested in and where you live. We will get back to you with a quote and give you all order information.
Giardini di Mirò have released a new online EP with a non-album track and 4 remixes of “Dividing Opinions”. You can download the EP from their website (click on “Scarica il disco.”).
It’s free, but it would be greatly appreciated if you could spare just 3 Euros to cover some costs involved in making this release.
Here’s the tracklist:
1.No one’s to blame (feat. Paul Anderson)
2.Dividing Opinions 1.0 (Isan Remix)
3.Dividing Opinions 2.0 (Mickey Eats Plastic Remix)
4.Dividing Opinions 3.0 “History repeats itself remix” - (Offlaga Disco Pax Remix)
5.Dividing Opinions 4.0 (Mapstation Remix)
