Labelnotes 01/26

Johannes Schardt

We have a lot going on right now. Last year felt like a warm-up and test run, now we're in full gear.

We're finalizing two releases: a live record by Giardini di Mirò and Luca Di Mira's fourth solo album.

Luca's album was mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri at Black Knoll. Next up: discussing the visual direction and planning the release rollout.

The GDM live album is still in the mixing/mastering stage, with some details left to discuss. I've also been working on first drafts for the artwork and the opening paragraphs of some extensive liner notes — these will be part of a zine/booklet that comes with the record.

Christophe aka Nitrada was very active this month for Jamuary. He posted a little synth session every single day, not skipping once.

We also dropped a small batch of 2nd rec logo T-shirts and prototyped the next merch drop (hint: it'll be Nitrada-related).

And finally, we introduced a new newsletter format. In addition to label updates, we'll now send out a curated email each month called "Nachhall," sharing things that caught our eyes and ears.
We're doing this because we love sharing stuff we find interesting and inspiring — but it's also a way to stay more connected with the community around our label. In times when social media is heavily enshittified and shows what makes you "engaged" (which often means "angry") rather than serving what you actually want to see, we're trying to grow our mailing list with people who genuinely care about what we're doing. Like you! If you've read this far, you're definitely one of them, and we love you for it.
This month we had over 200 new sign-ups, which motivated us even more to invest time and energy into these newsletters.

Until next month!
