Stacs of Stamina are back with a new EP after the success of their last record "Cashew Fenny" (Sideshow Recordings, 2002). The Swedish vikings have teamed up with K-the-I??? (Nephlim Modulation System), Onedae (The Neurologists) and their old group mate Bashie to create the epic 13-minute song “Isn’t this enough”, which takes you on a musical journey to the depths of mother earths and back.
Johan’s production on the 7 part song is an epic feat oscillating between spaced out drum n bass, banging hiphop, distorted electronica and futuristic folk music. Just when you think that the realms of hiphop have been thoroughly explored, once again Stacs of Stamina proves you wrong.
"Isn't this enough" serves as an appetizer for Stacs of Stamina's upcoming LP "Pizza", on which they have been working of for more than a year now. An EP including remixes by Para One (TTC and Fuck-a-loop), Seraphim (No Surrender and Skypimps), dDamage (Planet Mu) and KaeoFlux (Pilot Balloon/Komadose) is also in the making, as well as a re-release of their first mini album "Cashew Fenny" on the DefJux affiliated label Uncommon Records.
Boston based KaeoFlux and Jud from Komadose Productions together form the production team Pilot Balloon. With backgrounds in hardcore, jazz, hiphop and electronica their influences range from RUN DMC to Company Flow to Radiohead and Tortoise to Charlie Parker and Igor Stravinsky. Their first full-length album "Ghastly Good Cheer" is an impressive and unique mesh of this vast diversity of styles. Effortlessly they combine live instruments, countless samples and intricate beats with raps and atmospheric singsong.
After years of producing artists like K-the-I??? and Butterflyswift, KaeoFlux himself appears as a vocalists on "Hug Dusty/Throe stasis" (together with Stacs of Stamina) and "Vampire Tonic".
The tracks on this 10" only reveal a little section of Pilot Balloon's sonic scope. Check out the album "Ghastly Good Cheer" - coming early 2004 on 2nd rec - for the whole picture.
